Webmail

As of October 20, 2005, our email services have been upgraded to a new Windows XP Mail Server running SmarterMail software with F-prot virus protection. Most of our clients have been appointed an on-site domain administrator for controlling email accounts. Even so, each user now has quite a bit of control over his own email account(s).

Features include:
  • Webmail: retrieve your email from any computer, anywhere, using any internet browser
  • User definable "out-of-office" reply to incoming emails - set up your own auto-response
  • Several levels of junk mail filtering - configurable by you
  • Administrator access to set up new accounts or modify/delete existing accounts
  • Access to statistics on your email usage
  • Capability to set up mailing lists
  • Online user-friendly Help section

Q
Can I check my email from another computer, say by using a web browser at the airport or my friend's house?
A
You can now check your email from any computer, anywhere, anytime using Altitude 800 Webmail!

Log in to your account using this link through your internet browser: http://mail.altitude800.com

*Note: All emails stored on the server are periodically, automatically purged using a formula based on the volume of email messages in individual accounts. When the volume in any folder reaches its preset limit, the oldest messages are purged first to bring the volume of the folder below the specified limit. The auto-clean feature settings can be determined by the administrator, the domain administrator or the user. Archiving of messages is not provided on the mail server. In the event that emails are to be stored, the user should use an email program such as Microsoft Outlook, to retrieve emails from the server. This will ensure that all emails are stored on the client's computer and are not subject to the auto-clean feature.

For review of all features, functions and limitations of the mail server, please refer to the Help section while signed into Smartermail.

Q
How much control do I have over my email settings?
A
Altitude 800 Webmail has a dual function. You can compose and read your email using any computer and you can make changes to your account settings, such as setting up an auto-response, junk mail filtering and so on.

You can easily familiarize yourself with these features by referring to the "Help" button located in the upper right corner of the page after you login. Select "Help Topics for Users" for easy instructions on managing your account.

NOTE: Webmail is designed to allow users who have a POP3 account to send and receive mail using a web browser when away from their regular computer.

You will only receive messages on Webmail if the mail program on your computer is NOT open and checking mail.
